Stone Guitar Picks - New Item

Stone guitar picks are known for their unique tonal quality and durability. They are made of semi-precious stones such as agate, jasper, jade, and turquoise, which are highly polished. Here at Gaia's Unicorns we use Agate.  Agate is harder than jasper, jade or turquoise. Stone picks are longer-lasting, easy to grip, and offer a crisp tone that is more defined than even metal picks.

Stone picks give a unique tone because of their density, flexibility, and durability. They do not absorb vibrational energy when struck against a string, resulting in stronger, more distinct vibrations. They are also safe to use and won’t harm guitar strings thanks to their finely smoothed edges.

However, gemstone picks can be expensive, costing around thirty to fifty times as much as standard nylon or plastic guitar picks. They are also much harder to find (and make) than plastic, nylon, and metal picks.

If you are looking to acquire a stone pick, consider our agate picks.   Picks are 351 shape and thicknesses range from approx. 1.3mm to 2.5 mm. As a reference, a nickel is about 1.85mm thick and a dime is about 1.30mm thick. Each pick is a slightly different thickness and dimensions will be listed next to each picture. All picks have a slight taper with the "grip" end thicker than the "string" end. Picks will have two dimensions listed under thickness, for example 2.00mm to 1.50mm. The larger dimension is the thickness where held and the smaller where pick meets the strings. Picks are $30 each.

All picks are handmade and unique. Choose wisely and have fun with it.
